Day 01: Arrive Kiev
Welcome to the Ukraine! Upon arrival in Kiev, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

Day 02: Mizhrichynsky National Park
Today you will visit Mizhrichynsky National Park – one of the largest regional landscape reserves in the country. Part of the Polissya region (one of the largest swamp areas of Europe) the park is full of wildlife and covered by lush forests and swamps.

The park relies heavily on the work of volunteers to help keep it pristine. You will be introduced to some of the team members who work within the park and join them in helping to maintain one of the three eco-trails. Tasks may include helping build bird houses, clearing tree roots and keeping pathways clear. You will then visit a local home for a delicious homemade lunch. Return to Kiev later in the afternoon.

Day 03: Chernobyl
This morning after breakfast, you will make your way to the site of the world & s worst nuclear disaster, Chernobyl.

On 26th April 1986 reactor number 4 at the nuclear power plant exploded. The initial explosion and the massive radioactive fallout (thirty to forty times the amount released at Hiroshima) that spread over a massive geographical area lead to many deaths and harmed thousands more in the following years.

Over three decades later, the levels of radioactivity have dropped to safe levels and we can now explore the site to learn about Europe & s largest technological disaster and discover the impact it has had on the local population and wildlife.

Day 04: Kiev
Enjoy a day tour of Kiev. You will visit the UNESCO listed St Sophia & s Cathedral, St Michael & s golden-dome monastery and taking in the views of the Dnipro river as you learn about the recent history of Maidan revolution, your expert local guide will lead you to discover the lesser known sights of this fascinating city known only by the locals.

Take a late afternoon train to Lviv (approx 5 hrs). On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Lviv today is a hidden gem of European elegance. With origins as the capitol of the Kingdom of Galicia in 1272 and surviving Soviet and German occupation in WW2, this is a truly fascinating city with a unique combination of eastern and western culture, architecture and food.

Day 05: Lviv
This morning after breakfast, you will set out to explore the UNESCO listed old town. Walk its cobblestone streets dotted with beautiful cathedrals, enjoy street music and sit back and relax with a coffee in a quaint courtyard. (B)

Day 06: Kosmach
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and some free time this morning to discover Lviv on your own.

Late morning you will take scenic back country roads to the historic city of Ivano-Frankivsk, stopping for lunch at Urban 100 Cafe, a community owned cafe where profits are used for social projects such as city parks and cycle-ways as part of a ‘warm city & initiative.

Continue on towards the Carpathian Mountains. Considered to be the Green Pearl of Ukraine, it is rural Ukraine at its best, with tiered wooden churches dotting the hills and horse-drawn carts clip-clop along potholed roads. Arrive at the village of Kosmach. Spend the afternoon walking around the village.

Day 07: Meeting the shepherds
Today you will immerse yourself into the daily life of a typical Hutsul village. Hutsuls are an ethnic group of highlanders in the Carpathians, who largely maintain their traditions and customs. Venture into the highlands via 4WD – this is an exciting off-road journey not for the faint hearted! Visit the shepherds who spend their summers tending to their flock. Venture into the forest where you will forage for mushrooms, along with some of the freshest and sweetest tasting berries you will have ever eaten. Spend your afternoon participating in your host family & s daily routine – working in the field, feeding the animals or stacking the hay (depends on the season, and weather, time of the day and household needs). After you return to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08: Meeting Hutsul artisans
Today you will learn about traditional Hutsul crafts, and visit some of the artisans who earn their living continuing their family traditions. Join a Hutsul elder as she teaches you how to make your own Easter egg with intricate local designs. Travel to Yavoriv, where you will meet a local woman who makes beautiful woollen rugs. On your way stop by 16th century wooden  church
in a town of Kolomyya and also view a unique exhibition at the Easter Egg Museum there. Transfer to Chernivtsi, one of the most incredible cities in Central Europe, a true multicultural gem with stunning architecture.

Day 09: Chernivtsi
In and around Chernivtsi

Spend your day exploring the charming town of Chernivtsi, considered one of Ukraine & s most important educational and architectural sites. Discover beautiful parks and squares and enjoy its cultural heritage as you are surrounded by Habsburg empire architecture, there is no guessing why this city is known as ‘Little Vienna & .

Visit the UNESCO listed Residence of Bukovinian and Dalmatian Metropolitans, which is currently occupied as the Chernivtsi National University. The beautiful complex boasts exquisite architecture with intricate ornamentation and a lovely park. Visit and explore two stunning medieval castles in Khotyn and Kamyanets-Podilskyi.

This evening, take the overnight train back to Kiev. 

Day 10: Departure
Upon arrival back into Kiev, you will be met and have time at leisure to explore the city or relax in one of the many parks. You will then be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.

Day 01: The capital of Ukraine – Kyiv
Arrival in Kyiv, checking into a hotel. We will walk in the center, visiting the heart of the city and take a Kyiv subway – the deepest metro in the world. In Slavy park we will visit iconic 62 meters tall Motherland monument and Museum of the history of Ukraine in World War II. We will also marvel at Ukraine’s famous ancient churches dating back to 9th century.

Day 02: Mezhyhirya. Ethnographic park – Pirogovo
In the morning we take a hydrofoil speedboat to Mezhyhirya, the residence of Ukraine’s ousted president Viktor Yanukovych. Known as a museum of corruption, it displays Yanukovych’s luxurious lifestyle, including the world’s largest palace of wooden beams, a park of retro cars and exotic animals. Afternoon we will visit the ethnographic park – Pirogovo, where we will get acquainted with the architecture of all regions of the country from 17-20 centuries.

Day 03: Chornobyl / Dnipro
In the morning we check out from the hotel and travel to Chornobyl restricted area, home to the most disastrous nuclear plant accident in world history. (1.5 hours by car) We will visit the ultra-modern radiation shield, the dead city of Pripyat and the Red forest with reddish orange trees, affected by radiation. The level of radiation that you can get during this trip is approximately equal to the amount of radiation received during an X-ray. Night train to Dnipro (8 hours on the way).

Day 04: The city of Dnipro
Arrival in Dnipro. We will leave our luggage in the baggage room and take a trip to the park of spacecrafts. Home to Yuzhmash spacecrafts manufacturer, Dnipro is known as Ukraine’s scientific center. We will also visit the only ATO museum, dedicated to the ongoing counterterrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Guides and authors are all veterans of this war. After lunch we will visit Interpipe steel – the largest steel plant in Eastern Europe. All stages of steel producing can be observed in this ultra-modern industrial giant. Evening bus to Zaporizhya (40 minutes on the way), checking into a hotel.

Day 05: Dnipro hydroelectric station. Khortytsia island
Morning boat trip on Dnipro river (2 hours) which includes passing a gateway of the immense Dnipro dam. We will observe cascades of Dnipro hydroelectric station and enjoy the view of Khortytsia island. This legendary island is home to the famous museum of the history of the Zaporozhye Cossacks and the Scythian camp – the pagan temple and the burial mounds of the ancient nomadic tribes. We will also
ride horses and visit the skansen-reconstruction of the Cossack military settlement.

Day 06: The city of Kryvyi Rih
Morning drive to Kryvyi Rih (4 hours). Here we will see gigantic iron ore careers and visit the exclusion zone – huge embankments where you can collect dozens of types of glandular ores and other minerals. After lunch, an excursion to the former shooting site of the Ukrainian blockbuster “Krasny”, where the Stalin concentration camp is perfectly reconstructed on the site of the old factory district. An unforgettable night view of the 126 km long city from the Petrovsky Terrykon and a night train to Odesa (10 hours)

Day 07: The city of Odesa
Arrival in Odesa. Checking into a hotel. Odesa is a city of culinary tourism and a special southern Ukrainian atmosphere on the Black Sea. We will stroll through the colorful streets, look into the secret courtyards and the unique Privoz bazaar, as well as take part in the master class of local cuisine. We will go down to the legendary catacombs, stretching for several hundred kilometers under the city. They were used by smugglers and partisans, now some of them are an underground museum, where one can learn about the work of miners and see the former partisan hideout.

Day 08: Bilhorod / Dnistrovskyi
Departure from Odessa to Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi by car (2 hours on the way). The mighty 13th-century Akkerman fortress survived many wars on the banks of the Dniester river estuary and is well preserved. We will also have an excursion to Shabo winery, one of the best in Ukraine. Giant underground wine storage, a museum-labyrinth, and, of course, wine tasting. Return to Odessa (2 hours). Night train to Kiev (9 hours).

Day 09: Depart Kiev
Flight back home.

Day 01: Arrival in Kiev

Day 02: Explore Kiev
You can visit the gorgeous, golden-domed church of Kiev Pechersk Lavra or browse the art galleries and handcraft stalls along Andriyivskyy Descent, home to yet another iconic church in the city. Spend your evening enjoying a concert or watching a performance by a world-renowned opera if you want to.

Day 03: Kiev – Lviv
We recommend that you take a cruise trip along the beautiful Dnieper River while enjoying excellent views of the Soviet-era Motherland Monument and the city skyline. Stroll through the colourful parks to the political center of Ukraine, Independence Square, where history continues to be made.

If you can find some time, you might as well relax in one of the many authentic cafes, restaurants or bars in the city. Take an overnight train to Lviv in a private, 2-bed compartment.

Day 04: Lviv
Arrive in the historic Lviv Train Station and take a shuttle to the city’s legendary Rynok Square. Check in at your centrally located accommodation. Familiarize yourself with the city guide that we provide. Check out our carefully selected favourite hotspots in the city. You are free to explore the city on your own after that.

Day 05: Lviv
Wake up early to catch local painters in action or see their work in the various art galleries scattered around the city. Hike up to the ruins of the Lviv High Castle for a 360-degree view of this majestic, 800-year-old town.

Day 06: Lviv – Kiev
Fill your belly in yet another cozy cafe, bakery or chocolate shop using our guide book. Immerse yourself in the vibes of this ancient city and then fill your ears at a Vivaldi organ concert.

Visit the countless museums scattered throughout the city. Meet and interact with locals over glasses of cherry wine and pack a bottle in your bag to take home before heading back to the gorgeous train station for your overnight journey back to Kiev in a private, 2-bed compartment.

Day 07: Kiev departure
Arrive in Kiev and prepare for your departure.

Day 01: Arrival in Ukraine
Arrival at Kyiv Boryspil airport (KBP). Transfer to a hotel. Check-in. Time for rest.

Day 02: Kyiv sightseeing walking tour
09:00 am – 04:00 pm. Our walking tour will start from exploring ancient part of Kyiv city center. You will enjoy seeing Bessarabskyi market, Golden Gates, walk along Volodymyrskaya street and explore St. Sophia Cathedral, will discover secrets of St. Andrew church and descent, will discover St. Michael Golden-Domed Church. Later we continue with a walk along Khreshchatyk street-the shortest yet the widest main street in the world, Maidan- the square where all of the Ukrainian revolutions started and many more! Back to the hotel, free time.

Day 03: Kyiv sightseeing driven tour
09:00 am – 01:00 pm. We visit Kyevo Pecherska Lavra with its caves – the most ancient monastery and UNESCO Heritage site, then exploring the Motherland Statue complex and WWII museum. During the tour you will also see impressive administrative buildings, House of a crying widow, Chocolate House and Red Castle, stone jungles and many others. Back to the hotel. Free time.

Day 04: Kyiv – Kamianets-Podilskyi (440 km or 270 miles)
08:00 am – 07:00 pm. In the morning we drive to Kamianets-Podilskyi. Afternoon we explore this beautiful town. Why does this city seem to be a phenomenon of the cultural and historical importance? You’ll discover the history from the moment of town’s foundation till recent times. You will see the Cathedral of the Saint Peter and Paul, St. Nicolas Armenian Church, Enjoy a breathtaking view of the Smotrich River Canyon and of course, the highlight will for sure be a visit to the Kamianets-Podilskyi fortress

Day 05: Kamianets-Podilskyi – Chernivtsi – Yaremche (215 km)
09:00 am – 07:00 pm. We drive to the Carpathians with sightseeing on the way!
First stop – Khotyn fortress, which was founded in 13th century and had Moldavian, Polish and Turkish influence. Then we continue to Chernivtsi – the real cozy European city, situated on the spot where the roads from Europe and Asia cross each other. Then enjoy a 2-hour walking tour in the historical city center, walk along the main pedestrian street – Kobylyanska, will see the City Hall, Teatralnaya square and many other. After – we drive to Yaremche.

Day 06: Carpathians sightseeing – Yaremche – Verhovyna (130 km)
10:00 am – 04:00 pm. This day is dedicated to the mountains and its people – Нutsuls.
We drive to Verhovyna – the capital of hutsuls. You will see traditional mountain villages, find out about people who live there: Ukrainian ethnical group – Hutsuls. We will visit the Hutsul Everyday Life and musical instruments museum, which is located on a hill (hiking required or you will be taken up and down by a soviet jeep 5 mins ride ) and will find out about Ukrainian embroidery and its different meanings in the unique museum of Vyshyvanka. A home-made lunch will be served in a private house of one of the museum’s owners to let you feel the life of locals. Back to the hotel and free time

Day 07: Yaremche, the Carpathians – Lviv (190 km or 120 miles)
During your free time in Yaremche, the pearl of Carpathians, you can shop in one of the local souvenir markets.
12:00 pm – 07:00 pm Check-out and continue to Ivano-Frankivsk where we stop for lunch in a restaurant-museum of Galician way of life owned by a family. Afterwards, enjoy a 2-hour walking tour of the city which is often called “a small Lviv”. You will see the Market square and the City Hall, will stroll along the main pedestrian street which locals call “a Hundred meters street”, will see the Armenian church and much more. The we continue to Lviv. Check-in and free time

Day 08: Lviv sightseeing walking tour
09:00 am – 04:00 pm During our 6-hour walking tour we will see the architecture of Rynok Square, typical Austrian streets, as well as modern dwellings. Together they narrate Lviv’s glorious history. We will walk along the Medieval part of Lviv and will see Rynok Square, Armenian church and quarter, Dominican church, Boim Chapel, and many other impressive sites in the historical city center.
Highlights of this tour include visits of the Opera House, built in the classical tradition with Neo-Renaissance details (subject to change). Your lunch will be served in a place where you can be inspired for new ideas!

Day 09: Lviv sightseeing driven tour
09:00 am – 01:00 pm. Today your tour includes a visit of the High Castle Hill (walk along the hill), where a castle once stood during 1300s to the 1770s to protect the residents of Lviv during attacks. The hill now offers the best views of the city. You will discover the former Austrian casino, presently called “The House of Scientists”. The casino was a meeting place for the aristocratic elite. You will also visit St. George’s Cathedral, which serves as a great example of rococo architecture and was built between 1744-1760. Today St. George’s Cathedral is the main Greek-Catholic church. Back to your hotel, free time.

Day 10: Lviv departure

Day 08: Odessa
You might as well head out to the Black Sea again today. Take a dive into its waters or, if you want to, relax on the beach. You can also visit the Odessa Art Museum and see the works of some of the best-known Russian and Ukrainian artists of the late 19th and early 20th century.

Day 09: Odessa – Kiev and departure
Count your steps down the gorgeous Potemkin Stairs that leads to Odessa’s famous Vorontsov Lighthouse. Catch some local fishermen ‘hard’ at work. Explore other remarkable sights of the city with our comprehensive, easy-to-use city guide.

Relish your final overnight train journey back to Kiev.
